Valve, in an engineering and industrial context, is a device used to control the flow of fluids (liquids, gases, or mixtures) through pipes or ducts. Valve functions as a flow regulator that allows the user to regulate or stop fluid flow, as well as regulate pressure, flow direction, and flow rate.
Valves generally consist of a valve body that serves as a vessel for fluid flow, as well as movable parts, such as hinges, valves, or balls, which can open or close flow paths. When the valve is open, fluid flow can pass through the valve freely. When the valve is closed, the fluid flow stops.
